March has now come and gone. We started with plenty of water and finished with not a lot. However around a dozen springers have been caught and I was lucky enough to catch a 12 to 14 pound fish from the lower Taw. Around 40 well mended kelts have also been caught indicating a good spawning season last winter and maybe the return of these as bigger fish next season. Quite a few good sized sea trout have also been seen and one or two caught. The weather forecast promises some rain this weekend (April 2nd/3rd) which should give the river a bit of a lift. With spring tides this weekend as well there should be a good number of fish entering the river during the coming week. Get here if you can!!
